Who We Are

Bridging innovative and emergent technologies with marine life ingenuity,

Clean Wake is an evolving consortium led by Sequoia Biomimicry that is bringing  together researchers and industry leaders in the fields of material science, naval and chemical engineering, 3D printing, ocean stewardship, and shipping, to remediate these issues on a global scale.

The Global Microplastic Map

In addition to capturing microplastics, and reducing biofouling, the Clean Wake panels are embedded with MEMS (Micro-electro-mechanical-systems) that not only relay information in real time about panel saturation and maintenance, but work to map out microplastic concentrations in the open water and the amount of remediation achieved per voyage. The collective data is important for the shipping industry, regulatory institutions and researchers alike.
